The Prison Department is looking for a motivated and experienced individual to fill a full-time position as a Correctional Officer. The ideal candidate will have a background in law enforcement and be able to handle challenging and stressful situations with professionalism. The Correctional Officer will be responsible for supervising inmates, ensuring the safety of inmates and staff, and maintaining order within the prison. The Officer will be expected to patrol the prison, monitor security equipment, respond to emergency situations, and enforce departmental policies and procedures. Additionally, the Officer will be expected to interact with inmates in a professional and respectful manner and complete various paperwork. Successful candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to think quickly and make sound decisions, and the physical fitness to handle any situation. A valid driver’s license, clean background check, and certification in correctional officer training is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintaining security and safety of the prison facility and inmates
• Supervising and managing the daily activities of inmates, including meals, work assignments, and recreational activities
• Conducting regular cell inspections and searches to ensure safety and security protocols are being followed
• Monitoring and managing the movement of inmates within the facility and during transportation
• Implementing and enforcing disciplinary measures for inmates who violate prison rules and regulations
• Collaborating with other departments, such as medical and counseling, to provide necessary support and services to inmates
• Developing and implementing programs to reduce recidivism and prepare inmates for reintegration into society
• Keeping accurate records and documentation of inmate behavior, activities, and any incidents that occur within the facility.
